In 1996 the Rector decided to try to make the church lighter and warmer. All the furniture was taken out while new underfloor heating was put in, some new glass doors were added and the church furniture was changed around. The main altar is now in the centre of the church.
On june 19th 1943 a bomb fell outside the north door and a large section of the wall was destroyed. There are shrapnel marks on the Lady Chapel wall. The wall had to be rebuilt. All the glass was blown out of the East window by the bombing, and the vicar's prayer book was found Victoria Street.
