With
my husband King Prasutagus I rule over the tribe of the Iceni
in the east of this land. When the Romans came my husband made friends
with them and he was allowed to keep his lands.
I suppose
we live better now than before they came. As part of the Roman Empire
we can now buy things which come from distant lands, like oils,
wines and perfumes. As Queen I am rich and can afford things
like this.
I still have
my worries though. I do not think the Romans care for us and I still
like to keep to my old Celtic ways. I still dress like a Celt and
not like a Roman woman. I care for my people and hope that we can
live together in peace with the Romans.
