This purpose-built mosque was erected in 1982 to serve a Shi'a Muslim community, many of whose members originate from East Africa. The small Prayer Hall with its dome and minaret is at an angle orientated towards Mecca.

The community building contains two halls for teaching, preaching and social gathering as well as residential accommodation for the clergy and bedsits for students.
