Numeracy problems to solve for Key Stage 1, 2 and 3
Example: 4 packets of chews 4 x 5p = 20p OR 10 Cola bottles 10 x 2p = 20p How can you show your working out?
Janey goes to the shop to buy some fruit for her mum. She spends £2 altogether. If she bought 6 pears, how many apples did she buy? If she bought 3 times as many apples as pears, how many of each fruit does she buy to spend the whole £2? The next time she goes shopping she buys as many bananas as she can with her £2. At the end of the day, bananas can be bought in bunches of 4 for the reduced price of 50p. How much money would she save if she waited until the end of the day to buy her bananas? At the weekend there is a special offer on apples. How much more would it cost you to buy 20 apples on a Wednesday compared to a Saturday? |
